A whole new world

So here's the post I could never quite imagine myself writing. The college life. Well surprisingly (or not?), college has been everything the  movies have portrayed it to be. I've already found my "group," scoped out the professor and teaching assistants, and all the other whatnots of a college lifestyle. I know which times are best to eat at the (only!) dining hall to avoid the peak rush, where the best rooms to study in, and the shortest distant to class. And boy, I have loved every minute of college. I actually expected to miss home, my friends, and my parents, but I have just been way too busy to even think about being homesick. I barely had time to check my blogs, let along write a post. It's 2 am and I have class tomorrow...the things I sacrifice for y'all <--I've been saying y'all recently... ;).

Homework. More like reading; it has flooded my brain with ideologies of Plato, Socrates, Pierre Nora, and all other sorts of "notable" figures. I want to claw my eyes out every time I think about the foreboding 200 page assignment in The Republic due soon. So I'm just not going to think about it.

What about the social aspect you ask? I actually haven't been to any...you know...parties just yet. The great friends I have made just have fun on our own, with or without alcohol. And honestly, I like things just the way they are. I'm not writing anything off, but things don't look like they're about to change. Speaking of epic nights, living without my parents have changed everything. I've wandered through the streets of DC at 12:00 am, I've stayed up all night and early morning talking with special people (5:30 am? That's my first all nighter), and I'm never winding down. Sure, it's a bit exhausting, but you can only live once. C'est la vie!

White House @ 12:00 AM

One day I'm going to post the negative aspects of my school, and I'll rant about everything like this rambler used to do, but so far I'm happy just the way I am.

Dead Fish

There is of course no one I miss more than more dog, and because we obviously can't have dogs in the dorm my roomate and I thought it would be cute to get a fish! So last friday we went and got a betta fish at the pet store! His name was Enrique, and he was so cute!
Until he died on Monday. Yes three days later! So the pet store gave us another fish for free Monday afternoon and we named him Lobster Ravioli!
Tuesday morning?
Dead.
So that was an awkward weekend. We discovered now that what killed them was probably the water we used.
We miss them..and what am I going to do with all this damn fish food?

Welcome to college

Georgetown Cupcake Buffet!

Hello peeps! It's been a few days, but I'm finally acclimated to college life! It's still strange that I'm out at 1 in the morning standing in line for free burgers, but it's true. I just wanted to give an update, but my schedule is still jam packed with orientation events and parties (non-alcoholic! I swear!). Once classes start and things settle down, I'll give you the dl.

Gtown 2015

Nothing like an earthquake and a hurricane to welcome the class of 2015. Just sayin'. Move in day has finally arrived!

Packing

I have approximately six more days left, and packing has been assumed in a frantic frenzy. My guest room has been turned into a FEMA disaster zone, and I better not even bring up the mess in my bedroom.

One thing my dorm is lacking though (not a bathroom...Holla!) is a dresser. So I bought storage bins as a makeshift drawer to place under my bed. I think that's the key to a college dorm room. STORAGE. Bring extra bins, even if you don't think you'll need it...because one day you will. Especially in a room that is 198 square feet.

Cocks

Before coming to South Carolina I though "Cocks" was the stupidest mascot in the world. But I've grown to LOVE it, look how cute Cocky is! Awww!

Anyway, college has been awesome so far. Day two of classes, and already two of mine have been canceled so I'm just chillin. Round two of Rush tonight and probably some laundry!
